Future Leaders

1.    Future Focus Group

Future Focus Group is the Committee’s business leadership program and epitomises the organisation’s ‘ideas to outcomes’ mandate.  Nurturing Melbourne’s future leaders since 1996, the program provides participants with the opportunity to initiate and implement their own projects to make a tangible, positive difference to the city.

The 2010-2011 program is drawing to a close, with the 40 participants preparing to present their projects to the Project Review Panel.  The Panel reviews each group’s project and the leadership learning taken place.

2.    Student Practicums

For a number of years, the Committee has participated in a series of graduate and post-graduate student business consulting programs with The University of Melbourne.

The programs provide the Committee access to a small consultant team of high-achieving students to explore projects ideas of strategic importance.

The team produces a professional consultant-style report that responds to a business case based on the Committee’s priorities.

Not only does the program assist the Committee in analysing future work themes, it also allows the Committee to enhance its links with the tertiary sector and provide students with professional work experience.
