Membership

Committee for Melbourne members represent the highest levels of over 170 organisations and are drawn from the city’s major companies, academic institutions and civic organisations, representing a range of industries.

Membership offers you and your nominated company representatives opportunity to contribute to the identification and resolution of the critical issues that affect the long-term prosperity and liveability of Melbourne.

As a Committee for Melbourne member, you will have:

  • A leadership position within the Melbourne business community as we identify issues and action solutions for the future of Melbourne and for the good of our community.
  • A voice to express your views on significant issues for Melbourne in a neutral space and to a broad and diverse group of organisations.
  • Opportunities to listen and gain insights from other members, politicians and expert speakers.

Membership also includes participation in our working groups, invitations to our numerous events throughout the year and the opportunity for you and your organisation to be part of a unique group of people dedicated to the future growth and prosperity of our city.

At our events, you are able to discuss issues in relation to Melbourne and your industry, as well as listen to an array of interesting and engaging guest speakers.

Your membership fee covers all costs to attend our corporate functions and events throughout the year (except our Annual Dinner) including:

Taskforces

Using the collective knowledge and expertise of our members we focus our energies on  particular issues, such as grade separation, population growth and density to produce reports, recommendations or concrete actions which we circulate to our members and state and/or federal government.

Chairman’s Lunches

These Lunches are an intimate series of round table discussions that provide a forum to openly discuss topical issues facing our city.

Politicians speaking engagements

Addresses from Federal and State Ministers are conducted regularly throughout the year.  We aim to secure speakers for updates on issues of particular interest to ensure our members remain informed and stay ahead of political trends.

Member Tours

Member tours range from exclusive exhibitions, premises inspections and previews of ground breaking new developments.

Working Groups

Our working groups provide our members with a platform to discuss topical issues.  Working groups in 2011 will work on detailed policy around issues members seek to have on the Committee’s agenda.

Annual Dinner

Our annual dinner features high profile attendees from large and small business, government, not-for-profit, academia and arts institutions representing a broad range of industries. Previous themes have included:  Melbourne Soul, Melbourne Style, Melbourne After Dark and Melbourne Renaissance.

How to join

Committee for Melbourne membership is by invitation, although we do welcome enquiries from organisations that through the energy and enthusiasm of their staff wish to have a positive impact on the city, state, country and world and nation around them.

Our membership year runs April to April, with membership given at pro-rata for those joining in the second six months of the year.
