Welcome to the Committee for Melbourne

Kaj Faerm

Melbourne has much of the energy and dynamism of US cities and plenty of the class and style of European cities.

I am a Finnish citizen and have lived in both the US and Europe, and Melbourne is easily the best place I have lived in.

It is clean, safe and well organised.  It has good public transport, and there's plenty to do, even if the rules of AFL provide something of a challenge to the uninitiated.

Melbourne is a city that defies many of the stereotypes of Australia, but that's been no disappointment to me.

I don't need acres of sandy beach and while I find the outback spectacular, I also love a city that boasts first-class restaurants, galleries and music.

I am proud of the fact that Scania is the backbone for much of the public transport in Melbourne.

A Swedish manufacturer of trucks and buses, Scania employs 300 people nationally and around 120 in Melbourne.

As good public transport and clean air are two of the attributes of which Melbourne can be justly proud, I am confident Scania will continue to play a key role in providing the environmentally friendly trucks and buses that transport people and goods around this fantastic city.
