Book Exchange is one of the actions promoted by UK-based movement which encourages simple, everyday grassroots activities to improve the environment, our health and our communities.
Context
Book Exchange is number 33 of 50 actions. It is designed to encourage literacy outside the classroom and in the community. The action originates from a UK-published book called 'Change the World for a Fiver'. An Australian version of the book, 'Change the World for Ten Bucks', was launched in Melbourne in October 2005.
Success
The Book Exchange sydnicate has engaged with Pilotlight to support Action 33. The Committee for Melbourne initiated 'Melbourne Cares' has also been engaged to provide volunteer support. A number of Melbourne venues and publishers ahve also indicated their support for this initiative.
