In 1985, a group of prominent Melburnians gathered to create an organisation with the drive and expertise to transform the city in a positive, strategic and consultative way. This organisation was the Committee for Melbourne™ .
The Committee for Melbourne™ is an action-focussed group of people who are vitally interested in making Melbourne better.
Our Members represent the highest levels of over 170 organisations are drawn from the city's major companies, academic institutions and civic organisations.
They represent a range of industries including: The arts, business services, communications, the community, culture & recreation, the Diplomatic Corps, education, entertainment, engineering & construction, environment, finance, Government, health, hospitality, human resources, infrastructure, law, manufacturing, media, mining, petrochemical, research & development, retail, technology, tourism, transport & storage, the unions, utilities and trade.
The Committee's policy of inclusiveness means an unrivalled combination of experience, commitment and knowledge is made available to encourage a competitive and innovative business culture, and enhance Melbourne’s liveability.
While Members’ interests are diverse, the shared goal - securing Melbourne's future as a city of world-standing - is unifying, enabling the Committee to work closely with government at local, state, federal and international levels.
